Seems to be the trendy thing to do. The use of a configurator to customise your watch. Making it almost unique. We recently saw Norqain with their 1 of 1 configurator being released in WWG24. But the concept is not new. We saw it as long ago as 2018 by Armin Strom. We played with the Armin Strom configurator and found it to offer an interesting ability to customisation. We also tried out the Norqain Wild One of One configurator. It too offers the ability to create a watch out of 25 million combinations. And the Laco configurator enables a possible 100,000 variants.
This novelty is based on two watches. The Stuttgard PRO with the type A dial, and the Karlsruhe PRO with a type B dial. And the configurator can offer choice of dials, choice of case sizes, crown position (crown left or standard crown right), option to engrave the typical FL23883 number of the historical pilot watches. The configurator even goes to offer the watches as either handwound or automatic winding, with the ability to select a higher grade of finishing if desired. The case can also be either be open back with sapphire glass or closed. And a choice of straps or metal bracelet. The base price is EUR 850. And some options have an upcharge. We tried to configure a watch with all the most expensive options available, and it came up to EUR 1,600.

New horizons with the Laco Flieger PRO
Traditional manufacturer offers even more options for a “personalized” pilot watch
Pforzheim, July 2024 – For many decades, pilot watches have fascinated with their precision, robustness, and clear design. Reflecting on the rich history of these timepieces, the watch brand Laco combines historical pilot watches with timeless modernity in the configurable “Flieger PRO” line. Established in 2021, the PRO collection now includes configuration options for a blue dial and a case option without side engraving. This allows for over 100,000 possible variations, giving everyone the opportunity to create their own unique Laco pilot watch.
Laco preserves its tradition with great attention to detail in the “Pilot Watch Original” series, inspired by historical timepieces. In addition, the watch brand, which celebrates its 100th anniversary next year, is also working on modern advancements that impress both technically and aesthetically. Customer wishes are particularly emphasized. This philosophy is especially reflected in the “Flieger PRO” models. The basis for these are always the two models “Stuttgart PRO,” with the simple type A dial, and “Karlsruhe PRO,” with type B, featuring an inner hour circle and outer minute track. Due to popular demand, in addition to the classic black dials, there is now also the choice of a blue sunburst dial. Depending on the light, this dial can appear almost black or brilliantly blue and timelessly elegant, creating an unparalleled effect with its fascinating shine. The new variant is complemented by the option of a color-matched blue date disc.
For the case, available in 37 mm, 40 mm, or 43 mm, Laco now also offers the option to omit the lateral FL23883 engraving, which typically refers to the history of authentic pilot watches on the case flank. Despite a low profile of just 11 mm, the screw-down case back and screw-down crown ensure a water resistance up to 20 ATM, protecting against moisture under varying pressure and temperature conditions. All models are equipped with mechanical Swiss automatic or hand-wound movements, offered in various quality levels and finishes.
Additionally, a variety of other individual configuration options are available, allowing you to create a pilot watch according to personal preferences – always with the unmistakable Laco pilot DNA. Depending on the features, models start at 850 Euros. Regardless of which configuration the customer chooses, the result is always a timepiece with individual character, manufactured as a unique piece in the factory in Pforzheim.
The models with the new configuration options will be available starting from July 10, 2024.
