New: Casio G-SHOCK unveils the G-STEEL GBM-2100
The retail price for the Casio G-STEEL GBM-2100A-1A2, GBM-2100-1A, GBM-2100A-1A3 is SGD 349. The fourth model, GBM-21–B-7A is SGD 369, and is exclusive to CASIO Online Store in Singapore & Malaysia and Singapore G-SHOCK stores. Prices inclusive of GST.
Commentary
The Casioak GBM-2100 Series is a great success for Casio. The G-SHOCK 2100 family very large, with models in resin case and bracelets, full metal covered cased watches, and and full metal models. This release sees colour dials as the principal novelty.
The base watch is the same Casioak 2100 series in a resin case with what appears to be a stainless steel bezel and case side claddings. The release documentation as well as the sales webpages are not clear as to which parts are metal and which resin.
Here we have three new colours, in addition to a standard black. Interestingly, the black is the limited availability. The others are available from 26 July, and feature the classic black, a pastel blue and a vibrant green. Giving a splash of colour to the collection.
A final curiosity. We received the press release well before the Embargo Date of 19 July 2024, 10am SGT. When we were preparing this commentary (July 15), the links included in the release are already active. Which probably means that it is discoverable by a quick google. We wonder why the need for an embargo for watches which they already have on-line. Of course, we still chose to publish this after the stated embargo date.
