The Stowa Flieger Verus Black Forest Lagoon is a timepiece that stands out in the crowded market of pilot watches. It is part of Stowa’s modern Verus collection and features a 40 mm ‘Black Forest’ case, a nod to the region where the company is based. The design is inspired by the Blautopf in Baden-Württemberg, known for its dark woods and strikingly blue waters, which is reflected in the watch’s unique dial design.

Commentary
The Stowa Flieger Verus Black Forest Lagoon is a watch that offers a fresh take on the classic pilot’s watch design. Its unique color palette, homage to the Black Forest, and the use of a reliable movement make it a noteworthy option for watch enthusiasts looking for something beyond the conventional.
The case is made of stainless steel with a black coating, giving it a robust and durable appearance, complemented by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. The watch is not suitable for diving or swimming, with water resistance up to 5 ATM. The dial presents a large matt black surface with black but shiny numerals and minute markers, and intense turquoise highlights that add a vibrant contrast to the monochrome dial. The hands and numerals are coated with Superluminova black, glowing in a slight blue color in the dark, ensuring readability in low light conditions.
Powered by the Swiss automatic movement Sellita SW 200, the Flieger Verus Black Forest Lagoon offers two versions: the basic and the top version, with the latter featuring better finishing and chronometer-standard performance. An optional handwound movement Sellita SW 210 is also available in the top version. Each variant may include an optional date window.
The watch’s pricing reflects its positioning as a premium product within Stowa’s lineup, appealing to those who value both design and mechanical precision.
Press Release
The new pilot’s watch from the modern Verus line now impresses in the “Black Forest” case with the newly interpreted dial design of the Baumuster A, in an unusual color scheme. With its 40 mm diameter, it is comfortable to wear and therefore perfect for everyday use.
Black Forest Case
The black-coated case has long been known to STOWA connoisseurs as the “Black Forest” case. As black as the beautiful, dense Black Forest, where STOWA is based, is said to be with its mystical effect.
Dial Design
The dial design is inspired by the surroundings and landscape around the Black Forest. Not only are there dark forests that appear almost black even during the day, but the Blautopf, located in Baden-Württemberg, is also one of the bluest bodies of water that Germany has to offer. The small body of water is known far and wide for the more or less intense but always striking color of its water, depending on the incidence of light. This gave rise to the following dial design: a large matt black dial adorned with black but shiny numerals and minute markers. Combined with intense, high-contrast turquoise highlights in the form of the aviator triangle at 12 o’clock, the hand set and, on request, the date and logo. For the night, the minute markers and numerals have been filled with black Superluminova luminous material. This does not change the appearance of the black printing in daylight, but in the dark the coated elements glow slightly in a light blue color. The hands, on the other hand, are applied with Superluminova SLN P3242C/LE Grade A, luminous blue.
Movement
The Flieger Verus Black Forest Lagoon is powered by the Swiss automatic movement Sellita SW 200 in the basic or top version, as well as the optional handwound movement Sellita SW 210 in the top version. An optional date window is also available for all movement variants to ensure optimum suitability for everyday use. The choice of high-quality components guarantees an uncomplicated, durable and robust pilot’s watch.
Craftsmanship
No matter which configuration you choose in the end: Each one is created with great care at the company headquarters in Pforzheim and therefore bears the “Made in Germany” label. Each one builds on the long history of the STOWA brand, but is technically up to date. The best guarantee for a valuable investment in a timepiece with history and a future.
