Universal Genève unveils its new website
Commentary
Collectors worldwide has been waiting in anticipation of the relaunch of Universal Genève ever since the company was acquired by new owners, who also own Breitling.
Georges Kern, the CEO of Breitling also takes up a dual role as CEO of UG. And appointed an industry veteran Gregory Bruttin as MD. Gregory’s career in watchmaking began in 2002 with Roger Dubuis in 2002, working directly with the late Mr. Dubuis, holding key positions in the company. He also spent a stint concurrently working at the Stern dial manufacture.
Interestingly, Georges and Gregory chose to engage collectors to relaunch the brand. Other than 20 of these selected individuals sitting on the board to make decisions on the website and social media platforms, we do now yet know more about their involvement. Will the community have a say as to which icons get released? Will they have input on the design of the novelties to come? The answers to these questions are not yet evident to us at this moment, but we are looking forward to understanding this soon.
At time of publication, the contents of the new website and social media channels is yet unknown. And the new watches which are to be unveiled, hopefully soon, are also kept under secrecy. Though, we are certain, all will be revealed soon.
Release information
The iconic watch brand is introducing a new website and dedicated social media channels, revealing its future identity under new ownership, with outstanding collaboration from the Universal Genève collectors’ community.
Universal Genève, the storied “Couturier de la Montre”, has unveiled a new, dedicated website, where fans of the watch maison can preview the brand’s identity and access the latest news and reveals. This opens a new chapter in Universal Genève’s illustrious history of design and innovation after being purchased by private-investment firms Partners Group and CVC Capital Partners in 2023.
“There is a lot to look forward to, and this is just the start of a significant journey.”
Universal Genève CEO Georges Kern
“The new Universal Genève website and social media pages offer an exciting glimpse of what’s to come for Universal Genève.”
Gregory Bruttin, Managing Director of Universal Genève
The website will also be home to UG Magazine. Its content will explore Universal Genève’s history and take the audience behind the scenes of the brand’s revival. Readers can sign up online to receive the latest stories.
A CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION AMONG CONNOISSEURS
Universal Genève’s revival is cause for celebration among many watch connoisseurs. Renowned for its mythical models and in-house micro-rotor and precision chronograph movements, Universal Genève has long been popular with collectors. Several iconic models are revered, including the Polerouter, the Compax, and the Tri-Compax. Other legendary Universal Genève models include the Aero-Compax, the Space-Compax, the A. Cairelli Split Seconds, the Cabriolet, the Compur Colonial, and the Disco Volante.
Several models are among collector favorites and known by the names of celebrities who famously wore them. Collectors nicknamed a 1960s Compax “the Nina” for the Finnish model Nina Rindt, the wife of Jochen Rindt, the German Formula 1 driver who competed under the Austrian flag, as well as a Tri-Compax of the same era after the legendary guitarist Eric Clapton.
A series of pre-launch events and timepiece releases are planned to showcase the rich heritage and innovative designs that have shaped Universal Genève’s legacy.
This November, Universal Genève will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the legendary Polerouter watch with Scandinavian carrier SAS, which commissioned the original timepiece released in 1954. Currently, the first new releases from Universal Genève are scheduled for the autumn of 2026.
A COMMUNITY APPROACH
Every detail of the new website, from the brand colors and logo to the content itself, was created in collaboration with an advisory board made up of approximately twenty of Universal Genève’s most prolific collectors, watch-industry veterans, and industry press.
“This is a beloved brand with an active community,” Bruttin explains. “Our advisory board is working with us to build the brand in a modern way while remaining true to the considerable heritage of Universal Genève.”
The new website brings to life the rich history and elegant design of Universal Genève, with artwork by internationally acclaimed artist Constantin Prozorov.
“Universal Genève’s story is one of timeless innovation and artistry,” says Prozorov. “I wanted to create something that not only captures its remarkable history but also invites viewers to embark on a magical journey through time, connecting their iconic past with an exciting, imaginative future.”

I like the idea of a super thin and super light high-end quartz watch. Breitling have the capability too, as a leader in modern high-end quartz.
