Commentary

A brilliant move to add even more colour to the dial of a Bell & Ross watch. This time the Iridescent is created to look like the cross between an abalone shell and a dragonfly’s wing. The dial offers a range of colours from blue to green, then from green to blue, with touches of yellow and violet, depending on how the light strikes and where you place your eyes. Quite fascinating as the colour palette changes with any change in wrist orientation.

The dial construction is interesting. The iridescent effect is created by superimposing many thin layers of PVD treatment, each with a distinct tone. The interference of light which results creates this interesting and constantly evolving chromatic variation. Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross’s creative life force tells us that this treatment makes the dial “original, playful and innovative”. And to us, this is what makes Bell & Ross attractive to us…the continuous ability to be interesting by playing with colours and experimenting with material. All while keeping with the character of the model, in this case, their flagship BR-X5 model. Funky, non traditional, but for some reason, still managing to stay classical.
