We attended the launch event in Singapore two days ago, where Mercedes-Mayback introduced two new models of their EQS SUV.

The retail pricing in Singapore for the Maybach EQS680 SUV is SGD 979,888 and the Maybach EQS680 SUV (Night Series) is SGD 1,130,888. Price accurate as of 30 Oct 2024 and subject to change based on prevailing COE.

The venue: Eureka Griffin Club
Mercedes Benz chose to do the Singapore reveal in a private art club. Quite an interesting space for a car launch. The building is nestled atop Cluny Hill, a largely upmarket residential area. housed in a handsome Good Class Bungalow on Cluny Hill. The two-storey house sits on 22,000 square feet land not far from the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
We were welcomed by Marcel Perez, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore, who spoke about the parallels of the private art club and the values at Mercedes-Maybach. Both exemplars of luxury and craftsmanship.

And after the technical introduction of the cars, and a short video, we went out to the driveway where the EQS SUV Night Line was displayed in a white colour-way. Mercedes-Mayback was quick to add that their signature two tone variants are also available.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV and EQS 680 SUV Night Series
We will not go into details on the specifications of the new vehicles. You will find them in the official Mercedes-Maybach link. But show you some photographs of the car we saw at the event. The model displayed was the EQS 680 SUV Night Series.
The first thing one notices is the enormous 21 inch wheels with the inserts making a pattern of Maybach logos, in obsidian black. The black on black with 7 spoke rims, tyres and the wheel arch makes for a menacing stance.
The proportions of the body are such that it is not easy to judge the size of the car until one steps near and the sense of scale sets in. This is a very large vehicle. And very imposing, especially from the front. But the rear is no slouch either.
The interior is spacious. And very luxuriously appointed. High end leather appointments are everywhere. The doors to the cubby boxes within slide with a reassuring resistance, and gently fall open.
A massive digital central display, wrapping around the driver. The sound system is provided by Burmester 4D surround system, with 15 speakers and seat exciters strategically placed in the car. The rear has two very large and comfortable bucket seats, equipped with ventilation, massage and neck and shoulder heating.
The 118kWh battery is quite large and the car weighing nearly 3.1 tonnes, it has a range quoted as 533-635 km. The slippery aerodynamics contribute to surprisingly decent efficiency for such a large machine. The battery powers two electric motors for a total output of 484kW and a torque of 955 Nm, capable of propelling the car from 0-100 km/hr in just 4.4s, and a top speed of 210 km/hr.
Concluding thoughts
The appointments and choice of materials used in the Mercedes-Maybach is top grade. The workmanship which we observed all around the car is top grade. From the leather work in the interior, to the electronic displays for the driver, to the paintwork and bodywork. Very high end, as it is intended to be. This is a ultra luxurious vehicle.
