Commentary
One of the most popular recent release that G-Shock had done was the GA-2100. Dubbed lovingly as the “Casioak”, at launch in 2019, it was out of stock and trading over retail price. We have also seen many collectors modding the watch with a kit to resemble the AP Royal Oak, hence the nickname Casioak. The GA-2100 series of watches is one of the most popular watch in the market and you can definitely spot at least ten in an hour while shopping in Singapore’s shopping district, Orchard Road.
Casio released the solar powered Full Metal Series the GM-2110 in 2022, available in there metal colours – steel, ion plated black and ion plated rose gold. An ion plated yellow gold model was added in 2022. A simpler, non solar powered model with steel case and resin strap was released earlier this year. And now Casio follows up with this novelty which features the non-solar model in full metal case and bracelet.
This novelty release adds the steel bracelet and is available in 5 different dial colours like sky blue, navy, lime green, orange and silver ensuring that is a colour for almost anyone. Now if we have to choose, our choice will be the one in navy blue. The case, bracelet are in white metal (stainless steel) with the movement which also remain the same as the introduction Full Metal models in 2022.
The solar models designated as GM-B2110D, carries a higher price tag of about SGD 800, while the non-solar models with nomenclature GM-2110D, is below SGD 400. The steel bracelet adds a SGD 30 premium over the resin strap ones.
